Gifts of Love helps people from diverse backgrounds
Clients come to Gifts of Love for help as they struggle to find a way to clothe and feed their children on low-paying or minimum wage jobs.  Buying school supplies is difficult for families facing a disabling illness or a layoff.  Individuals who are being transitioned out of a shelter program or families that have lost everything in a fire face absolutely empty apartments.  New mothers need cribs and baby supplies and other families have the opportunity to be reunited if beds and dressers for the children can be found.

No other agency in the area has as extensive an array of basic services as Gifts of Love.

ÒI have personally delivered furniture where people are sleeping on the floor.Ó

Tim Johnson, Volunteer

Over the past 15 years, Gifts of Love has directly touched the lives of thousands of people in the Greater Hartford area, including residents of over 30 Connecticut towns.

How Gifts of Love Helps Families in Crisis

Food

Clients make monthly appointments to select food, paper goods and toiletries.

Clothing

Clients make selections from in-season items for children, women and men.

Household Items

Donated dishes, pans, utensils, linens, towels, vacuumc cleaners, toasters, coffee makers and other small appliances are offered to clients as they are available.

Furniture

Volunteers pick up good, clean, usable donated furniture and deliver it to clients as needed. Gifts of Love annually distributes over $300,000 of goods and services to neighbors in need.

Seasonal Items

Thoughtful donations from the community provide clients with back-to-school backpacks, Thanksgiving dinners, holiday gifts and, for the children, Spring baskets.  Material donations and/or financial help for these efforts is always appreciated.
